Craft Counter.

Craft Counter is a row counter for knitting and crochet on iPhone. It keeps your place, remembers where you were, and lets you go back to an earlier saved position. This page explains how the app works and what to do when something does not go as expected. If you cannot find an answer here, email romuald@aiadvisors.pl.

What the app does

Each project has one large counter for rows or rounds, an optional pattern repeat that moves with each row, an optional target, and a history of saved positions. Everything is stored on your iPhone and works without an account or an internet connection during the trial and after Full Unlock. Optional cloud backup and optional voice control are extras you switch on yourself.

Counting

Tap the big button to add a row. Use the smaller buttons to step back or to reset. The number on screen is only shown as saved after it has been written to the app’s database on your phone, so what you see after a “Saved” confirmation is what you will find when you come back. If a save ever fails, the app tells you and offers to retry the same count rather than guessing.

On supported devices you can turn on voice control and say “next row” instead of tapping. Speech is recognized on the device by Apple’s speech engine; nothing is recorded or uploaded. Listening stops when you leave the counter.

History and restore

Every saved position is added to the project’s history, up to the latest 1000 entries. Open History to see where you were and when. Restoring an earlier position does not rewind or erase anything: it adds a new entry at that count, so the record of how the project moved stays complete. Undo is available for the most recent action.

Export and import

Export creates a portable project file containing the project name, settings, count and retained history. Choose where it goes in the iOS share sheet, for example Files, iCloud Drive, Mail or AirDrop. Import reads such a file and, after showing you a preview, creates a separate new project from it. Import never overwrites an existing project, so you can safely import the same file more than once.

Keep an exported copy somewhere outside the app when you want an independent backup. Deleting the app from your iPhone can remove its local projects.

Archive and delete

Archiving hides a finished project from your main list without deleting it. You can unarchive it at any time. Deleting a project asks whether to remove it from this iPhone only or, if cloud backup is enabled, to delete all cloud copies as well. Archive, delete, read, export, import and recovery always work, even after a trial has ended.

Trial, Full Unlock and Restore purchases

Craft Counter is a free download. Starting the 7-day trial is an explicit choice through the App Store; it costs nothing and does not schedule any charge. Full Unlock is a single one-time purchase through the App Store. There is no subscription and no automatic renewal. The App Store shows the exact price in your local currency before you confirm.

When the trial ends without Full Unlock, your projects and history stay on your phone. You can still read them, export them, import copies and delete them; creating new projects, counting and restoring from history need an active trial or Full Unlock. The trial is tied to the date of your original Apple transaction, so reinstalling the app or restoring purchases does not restart it.

If you bought Full Unlock and the app shows the trial or expired state, open Settings → Trial & purchase and tap Restore purchases. Make sure you are signed in to the App Store with the same Apple account you used to buy. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com; we cannot issue App Store refunds ourselves.

Cloud backup basics

Backup is optional. Turn it on in Settings → Backup, agree to backup, and sign in with Apple. After that the app uploads a copy of your projects whenever it is open, connected and has an active trial or Full Unlock. The Backup screen shows the time and saved position of your last completed backup, and warns you when a copy could not update. Only what is shown there as backed up can be recovered.

Backup is included in the trial and Full Unlock. It is not a sync service: it does not merge changes between two phones. Backup copies contain your project progress only, not photos or pattern files.

Cloud backup limits

• 5 MiB per project file, 25 MiB of current project data and 1 GiB of retained copies per account.
• The last five backup generations per project, plus daily recovery points for seven days and weekly points for four weeks where uploads occurred.
• Uploads pause when the trial ends or the app is not running; existing copies stay available for recovery, export and deletion.
• Local changes made after the last completed backup are not in the cloud copy.
• Cloud backup is not a promise of permanent storage. Manual export always remains available.

Recovering on a new iPhone

1. Install Craft Counter on the new phone and start the trial or restore your Full Unlock purchase.
2. Open Settings → Backup and sign in with the same Apple account you used before.
3. Choose the project copy you want and recover it. Each recovery creates a separate project on the new phone, so nothing already there is replaced.

You can also move a project without cloud backup by exporting a file on the old phone and importing it on the new one.

Deleting cloud data

To delete a single project’s cloud copies, delete the project and choose Delete all copies. To delete everything we hold for you, open Settings → Backup → Account and choose Delete cloud account. Cloud access is blocked as soon as the server confirms, and your identity records, purchase associations and all copies are removed within 30 days. Your local projects stay on your iPhone unless you remove them separately. Details are in the privacy policy.

If the app cannot open your projects

Craft Counter never resets or replaces its database on an error. If the saved projects cannot be opened, the app keeps the original files untouched and offers a recovery screen where you can retry, restore a verified migration backup into a separate database, or import a project file into a separate recovery database. If you reach that screen, contact us before deleting the app so that your original files are preserved.
